Introduction

Hello and welcome to Tigerfishfenzy.com, My name is Haydn Willans and I am the captain of the “Nguni Houseboat” on the Caprivi section of the Zambezi river is an ultra luxury 5 room, 10 bed boat lodge situated off an island of the Zambezi river on the most eastern tip of the Namibian Caprivi strip. We have access to what I believe is one of Africa’s top game-fishing stretches of freshwater. This area attracts all types of fishermen from around the world, all with one goal in mind – BIG TIGERFISH, (please do not refer to above picture for reference!)

Past

I have spend the past 6 years of my life as the specialist flyfishing guide for a well known lodge on the Caprivi stretch of the Zambezi river, during my first years of guiding for this lodge I was asked on numerous occasions by tour operators, potential guests and sometimes magazines to provide information about the fishing methods and tackle used within the area. Whilst trying to put experience to paper I tried to gather as much info as I could from the net and other forms of media and found although there were hundreds of sites that boasted info about the tigerfish, most of them only relayed info where one could catch them but did not provide info on HOW to catch them, WHEN to catch them or even WHAT these beast fish are, no wonder the majority of my clients came through totally unprepared and uninformed about the HOWS, WHENS and WHATS. It was at this point that I decided to create a website that would provide info to all about the tigerfish, the methods used to catch this awesome game fish and describe the ins and outs of the Caprivi stretch of the upper Zambezi River.

Why TIGERFISHFRENZY?

Over the months June, July and August tigerfish are in fulltime pursuit of small baitfish which have been forced off the drying floodplains, sometimes these baitfish are horded into bait balls and forced to the surface by shoals of hungry tigerfish, what results is an explosion of water, fish and birds all fighting for either food or freedom. Any lure or fly presented in the general area is quickly sabotaged and general mayhem follows on the boat as double and triple hookups follow. It is truly one of the most exciting ways of catching tigerfish and once it has been experienced it will never be forgotten.

When I think of Tigerfish the first thing that comes to my mind is Frenzy. When people think of Tigerfish the first thing I want them to think is Tigerfishfrenzy.com

Present

Tigerfishfrenzy.com is the end result of a couple of years of ongoing work, when I first played with the idea of the website I figured it would be complete within a month or so of my starting. I believed all I needed was some pics and place to download my thoughts and experiences; well it really isn’t that easy and the more I put down on paper the more work I realized I had to do. What started out as a hobby to keep me busy during my down time has now turned into an obsession? I don’t think this website will ever be complete, I believe that I have only just scraped the tip of the iceberg with the basics and hopefully I will be able to reveal more through time and learning.

Future

What is TigerFishFrenzy.com’s future? Well I really don’t know, I guess it is all up to those who read it, but I still haven’t finished my quest for the ultimate Tigerfishing website. There is still plenty of information on the finer details involved in Tigerfishing such as knots and fly tying that I can still write pages on, so please keep checking in for newer versions.  If you have any comments about the website please don’t hesitate to contact me on the details provided on the contact me page (Good or Bad, I don’t mind I just want to know what I can do to make this site better).
