As
mentioned in other parts of this website I am now the captain and part
owner of The Nguni
Voyager houseboat. When I started this website (some 7 years ago)
I was the specialist flyfishing guide for a land based camp on Impalila Island on the Eastern
Namibian stretch of the Zambezi river. Whilst
working there I came to love and realise the amazing fishing potential of
this 120km stretch of river but I did come to realise (along with many of
my clients) that a fair amount of travelling had to be done to get to the
best fishing spots during the peak fishing seasons. Sometimes it was
taking us 2 hours to reach our fishing spots in the mornings and a
further 2 hours of travel to return in the afternoons, of course during
these 4 hours of travel we were missing the peak hours of fishing
activity. Myself and Simon Parker (my mentor and manager at the time)
came to talking about how great it would be to have a houseboat that
would be able to follow the receding flood, baitfish and Tigerfish
throughout the season. “How amazing would it be to wake up on a
houseboat to the sight of feeding Tigerfish, step out onto a tender boat,
drift off a couple meters and start fishing” these were the few
words that led to the inception of the idea of the Nguni Voyager
Houseboat.

The
Nguni Voyager is a 5 cabin, 10 bed luxury appointed houseboat. Nothing is
left to want on board the Nguni and we cater for just about every need.
Each of the spacious 5 en-suite cabins can accommodate either 2 single
persons in the way of 2 separated single beds or a couple in the way of a
king size double bed. The bathrooms are kitted out with flushing toilet,
high pressure hot water shower and vanity basin. 2 large windows on
either side of the bedroom allow for breathtaking views of the river and
a cool through breeze even on the hottest of days. Our hi-tec battery
system allows for 24hr lighting and cooling fans to operate when our 220v
generator is turned off.
All
delicious meals are prepared by our highly skilled cooking staff and are
served in our 12 seater open walled dining room on the 2nd
level of our boat, from here you are able to take in the amazing beauty
of the Zambezi or Chobe river while
eating a feast fit for kings.

The
Upper 3rd level deck has been designed to give maximum viewing
pleasure, whether it be spotting hidden fishing backwaters on the Zambezi
or watching the variety of different game come to the waters edge to feed
and drink whilst cruising the Chobe river, you will be doing it in style
with drink in hand lying on a sunbed or sitting in the shade of the
umbrella whilst having a 360 degree view over all.

The
Nguni Voyager has been designed to travel, and that is what we do, we try
to spend every night in a different place giving the guest a widest
possible experience of the area in which we operate. The Nguni has been
designed with 2 main activities in mind:
1)
Fishing to follow the
receding floods from June to August for our flyfishing and spinning
clientele and follow the rising flood waters in December and January for
our Drift baiting guests.
2) Game Viewing: to retreat to the
waters bordering the Chobe National Park for some awesome viewing of
elephant and many other species of antelope and game (too many to
mention) for months August – November and again march and April.
